    Your Tasks

    DB Schenker are looking for 2 talented Business Development Managers to join our Ocean Freight product area. The successful candidates will have a proven track record in developing quality new business in the sector with significant knowledge of, and passion for Ocean Freight. One of the positions will be focussed on the North with the other covering Midlands and North.

    Salary: Competitive + car allowance + bonus + bens

    This role will involve regular travel across the region to clients and other Schenker sites as required.

    What will you be doing?

    • The purpose of the role is to source, develop and secure new ocean freight from potential customers within the UK
    • Deliver assigned volume in relation to company target plus grow any assigned existing customers. Maintain a healthy pipeline of 'A,B,C,' level target accounts.
    • Identify new potential 'A' size customers to develop relationships and knowledge in preparation for formal RFQ's
    • Work closely with Tender Management and Product Management teams to submit competitive, tailored proposals
    • Follow-up on all incoming sales leads
    • Regular meetings and dialogue with the Regional Ocean Managers and Product Trade Lane Manager on competitor news/developments and detailed feedback on issues preventing new business wins
    • Regular dialogue with all Commercial/Ocean Product Management on target accounts.
    • Make regular JSV's on larger identified opportunities with Commercial Trade Lane Manager and Regional Ocean Manager

    Requirements

    About You

    • Proven sales track record of gaining new major business and successfully working to and exceeding sales targets
    • Excellent relationship building skills, identifying and prospecting new business opportunities and ability to close successfully
    • Ability to prioritise, organise and manage time efficiently is essential
    • Significant industry knowledge within Ocean
    • Excellent knowledge and relationships with key exporters and importers in the sales region
    • Commercial awareness aptitude with the ability to negotiate at a high level
    • Proactive 'hunter' attitude
    • Superb communicator and networker
